For the second straight year, Alife® celebrates Black History Month by releasing a series of six hoodies. Each hoodie features the names of prominent Black men and women that were pivotal to promoting African American civil rights, culture, and values in the United States. 

The names, prominently displayed on the front of the hoodies, include Eldridge Cleaver, W.E.B. Du Bois, Medgar Evers, Fred Hampton, Assata Shakur, and Nina Simone. The straightforward design and bold font on the hoodies aims to draw attention to the power of the figures’ names and the movements that they championed. 

Nina Simone, from Tyron, North Carolina, was a singer, songwriter, musician, and civil rights activist. Simone rose to fame through her dedication to her talent, and she used her music to address racial inequality in the United States. Simone is credited with numerous protest songs like ‘Mississippi Goddam,’ and she performed and spoke at many civil rights meetings such as the Selma to Montgomery marches.

The heather grey hooded sweatshirts are all made of a heavyweight, pre-shrunk 14 oz fleece, with the name screen printed on the chest, and ribbed cuffs and sides.
