Description

For the second straight year, Alife® celebrates Black History Month by releasing a series of six hoodies. Each hoodie features the names of prominent Black men and women that were pivotal to promoting African American civil rights, culture, and values in the United States. 

The names, prominently displayed on the front of the hoodies, include Eldridge Cleaver, W.E.B. Du Bois, Medgar Evers, Fred Hampton, Assata Shakur, and Nina Simone. The straightforward design and bold font on the hoodies aims to draw attention to the power of the figures’ names and the movements that they championed. 

Eldridge Cleaver was a writer and political activist from Wabbaseka, Arkansas. Cleaver was an early leader of the Black Panther Party and gained the titles of Minister of Information and Head of the International Section of the Panthers. Cleaver ran for president as well in 1968. After leading an ambush on Oakland police officers in the same year, Cleaver sought freedom in Cuba.

The heather grey hooded sweatshirts are all made of a heavyweight, pre-shrunk 14 oz fleece, with the name screen printed on the chest, and ribbed cuffs and sides.
